This documentary shows for the first time the daily life of one of the most feared and dangerous tribes of the Amazon. We will be witness of some of their abilities and we will understand that being fearsome is needed if you want to survive.

This program documents a visit by Brazilian government officials to the Korubo people, hunter/gatherers of the Javari River Valley. Transcending a history of mutual distrust and violence with other groups, especially Caucasians, the Korubo warm to the camera team after receiving medical help for their malaria-stricken leader. The team’s unprecedented access leads to breathtaking, revelatory footage of Korubo hunting and fishing techniques, hygienic practices, and sophisticated technology hand-wrought from vegetation. The program underlines the importance of Brazil’s Fondacao Nacional do Indio policy that protects Korubo land, and in so doing, protects the Korubo themselves.

Korubo or Korubu is the name given to a tribe of indigenous people living in the Javari Valley, in the Western Amazon Basin. The group calls themselves 'Dslala', and in Portuguese they are referred to as caceteiros (clubbers). Much of what the outside world knows of this group is based on the research of Brazilian explorer Sydney Possuelo who first contacted the tribe in October 1996 and journalist Paul Raffaele. The Korubo are some of the last people on Earth to live in near isolation from modern society although they have on numerous occasions had violent contact with the surrounding communities. An offshoot of the group is led by a female named Maya. This splinter group has around 23 members and the larger group is estimated to have 150 members.
